Juicing vs. Blending - pros & cons

academy4achievement

To the untrained and inexperienced eye a smoothie and a juice might seem like the same thing or at least very similar. Although both are drinks that are typically made with fruits and vegetables, there are some significant differences between the two. The difference between the two is actually in the preparation. While juicing is done using a juicer, smoothies are prepared using blenders. Juicing separates the juice from the pulp and blending includes everything, nothing is separated or removed. So basically JUICE contains NO PULP and SMOOTHIE contains PULP. (PULP = FIBER) Juicing vegetables has the added benefit of making the vegetables easier to digest and more readily available for absorption. When we drink fresh squeezed veggie/fruit Juice it actually bypass the digestive system and gets absorbed on a cellular level. The top reason to juice is to increase your intake of fresh produce. Vegetables and fruits supply the body with a wealth of vitamins and minerals that help boost immunity and fight oxidative stress in the body. Although smoothies contained pulp and they go through the digestive system, they are easy to digest and are packed with vitamins and antioxidants, keep you hydrated, increase your energy, get your skin glowing, and more. The benefits of both drinks are endless, so make sure to include both in your diet. *** Please keep in mind that the changes in diet and lifestyle I recommend should always be initiated and maintained after consulting with your doctor. ***
